Trump depicts Musk as 'train wreck'
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Elon Musk for his plan to create a new political party, accusing the tech billionaire of causing “disruption and chaos” and destabilizing the American political system. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Musk’s recent behavior as erratic, calling him a “train wreck” and expressing doubt that the proposed “America Party” would succeed in the US political landscape.
Trump argued that third parties historically fail in the US and mainly contribute to division and turmoil, which he said the Democratic Party already provides. He also defended his multitrillion-dollar spending bill, known as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Musk had opposed, suggesting Musk’s objections stemmed from the removal of federal electric vehicle mandates that benefited Musk’s businesses.
Further, Trump criticized Musk’s attempt to install an associate to lead NASA, highlighting potential conflicts of interest due to Musk’s ties to the space sector and noting the candidate’s Democratic affiliation. Trump emphasized his priority is to protect the American public.
Musk recently announced plans to proceed with forming the America Party, promising to restore freedom and criticizing both major parties for mismanaging the country’s finances. Although Musk has not provided many details, he hinted the party could make its first move in the 2026 midterm elections.
Musk explained his approach to challenging the existing political system by applying a strategy inspired by an ancient military tactic—focusing intense effort on a specific target. Musk’s criticism of Trump originally centered on concerns over rising budget deficits, and he played a key role in a government group aimed at reducing federal spending.
Since their fallout, Trump and Musk have exchanged harsh words, with Trump accusing Musk of receiving excessive government subsidies and threatening further actions against him, including potential deportation of the South African-born entrepreneur.
