Trucker & his family sent to hospital by rear-end crash with unlicensed truck driver
A trucker and his family were treated at a hospital after a rear end crash with an unlicensed truck driver very early on Sunday morning.
The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 18th in Nash County, North Carolina on Interstate 95 southbound.
According to WRAL News, a Volvo semi truck driven by 27-year-old Marlon Patterson crashed into the back of a Mack semi truck with a driver and his family inside on I-95 just before the rest stop in Dortches. The collision caused the Volvo to jacknife and separated the cab from the trailer.

“Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lanes of I-95, blocking both lanes completely,” A NC Highway Patrol spokesperson said to Fox 8.
Patterson was transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries. The truck driver in the rear-ended tractor trailer was taken to a hospital as a precaution. His wife and three-year-old child were also taken to the hospital for a precautionary medical evaluation.
Patterson was cited for failure to reduce speed, driving while license revoked, and not wearing a seatbelt.
I-95 was shut down for about 10 hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. No further information has been released.
