Trough of storm, 'habagat' to bring rains over parts of PH

Published 8 hours ago1 minute read

The trough of the tropical storm outside the country (formerly Bising) and the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will continue to dampen several parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said Saturday.

As of 3 a.m., Bising (international name: Danas) was spotted 480 km. west of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, slowly moving westward.

Its trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

The same weather conditions will prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
