The 26-year-old has become an important figure since joining the London club from Ajax three years ago, making 105 appearances across all competitions and contributing four goals and one assist.
His performances earned him Fulham’s Player of the Season award for 2024-25, while he also played 30 Premier League matches last season and helped Nigeria finish third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bassey’s importance has continued despite Marco Silva’s departure, with new manager Álvaro Arbeloa entrusting him with the captain’s armband in Fulham’s first three league matches of the current season.
His form has reportedly attracted interest from several European clubs, including Serie A giants Inter Milan, as his current contract approaches its scheduled expiry in summer 2027. Fulham, however, have an option to extend the deal by another year, meaning they are not under immediate pressure to sell the versatile centre-back, who can also operate at left-back.
The London club are now reportedly weighing an improved contract that would reflect Bassey’s importance and reward his contributions over recent seasons. Sources indicate that the Nigeria international is settled in west London and open to extending his stay, giving Fulham confidence that an agreement can be reached.
Bassey is also reportedly among Fulham’s highest-paid players, earning around £45,000 gross per week, equivalent to approximately £2.34 million annually before bonuses and allowances.
