The tour builds on previous visits in 2023 and 2024, which included a famous victory over Manchester United and a draw against Chelsea.
Manager Phil Parkinson has expressed excitement about returning to the U.S., noting the strong support the team has received and the importance of facing “three quality opponents” – Leeds United, Sunderland, and Liverpool – to prepare for the 2026/27 season.
Wrexham currently sits sixth in the Championship, riding a three-game winning streak and holding a four-point cushion over Southampton for the final playoff spot, raising the possibility of touring the U.S. as a Premier League club.
The match against Liverpool will be their first meeting in nearly 20 years, with their last friendly in 2007 and a competitive fixture in 1978 where Kenny Dalglish’s hat-trick secured a 3-1 win for Liverpool.
Wrexham will open the tour against Leeds United at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on July 25, face Liverpool at Yankee Stadium on July 29, and conclude against Sunderland at Subaru Park in Philadelphia on August 2, McElhenney’s hometown.
Liverpool’s U.S. itinerary mirrors this schedule, beginning with Sunderland in Nashville on July 25 and ending against Leeds United at Soldier Field in Chicago on August 2.
