Train Commuters Stunned: Woman Box Dyes Hair on Public Transport Without Shame

A recent incident involving a woman named Vera has ignited a widespread debate on social media about public etiquette and the use of public transport for personal grooming activities. Vera garnered significant attention after she decided to dye her hair while on a train, citing a 'Type B' personality and a need to save time before a hair appointment.

Vera documented her unconventional hair dyeing process on TikTok, showing herself donning plastic gloves and applying box dye to her curly locks while seated on the train. She then proceeded to the train's toilet to complete the application. The process, however, resulted in a considerable mess, with dye visible on her shoulders and even on the walls of the train toilet.

While Vera declared, "This was so embarrassing but I was not embarrassed," her actions quickly drew both shock and criticism from other passengers and online viewers. Another passenger, Micaela, also shared a video on TikTok, expressing her disbelief at Vera's actions. "I'm all for a quick make-up top up on the tube but this woman was full on box dyeing her hair!" Micaela wrote, further noting, "Couldn’t believe it at first when she started to mix up her potions. Surely she wasn’t gonna apply it? I stand corrected!" Micaela even tagged Transport for London in her caption, alerting them to the incident.

The comments section of Vera's and Micaela's videos became a hotbed of discussion. Many users vehemently criticized Vera, primarily raising concerns about the strong chemicals, like ammonia, typically found in box hair dyes. "No consideration for others??" one commenter wrote, explaining, "My parents have raging sinus issues and there's many people that can't breath those chemicals in hair dye like ammonia. The tube and public spaces already have appalling air quality as it is. Could you not have woken up earlier??" Another echoed this sentiment, stating, "Those fumes aren’t meant for confined spaces especially around kids, the warnings on every box dye." Concerns about potential allergic reactions and the overall lack of 'decorum' in public spaces were also highlighted.

Despite the strong backlash, some users came to Vera's defense. "You know what? I respect it. Go ahead babe!" one supporter commented, while another agreed, "As she should - like we are we wasting 20 minutes on the train when we can do so much!" Others simply found the situation amusing, with Micaela herself replying to Vera's comment on her video ("OMG, this is me!") with, "Girl!! You are iconic, you had me creasing!" The incident undeniably sparked a lively debate on the boundaries of personal activities in shared public environments.
