Tragic Hamptons Hit-and-Run: Accused Killer's Suitcase Cover-Up Revealed

A fatal hit-and-run crash in Hampton Bays in June led to the arraignment of a Virginia woman, Amanda Kempton, 32, who pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The alleged victim, prominent Hamptons real estate agent Sara Burack, 40, was struck while walking with a suitcase along Montauk Highway in the early morning hours of June 19. Prosecutors stated that Kempton briefly stopped after the collision, attempting to dislodge a suitcase from underneath her vehicle, before driving away without reporting the incident to law enforcement. Her vehicle was later located at a family member's house with front-end damage consistent with the crash.

Kempton's defense attorney, William Keahon, argued that his client believed she had hit a traffic construction barrel due to extremely foggy conditions, which he claimed caused
