Tragic Aftermath: Content Creator Odogwu Asaba Arrested in Delta Over Alleged Rape Leading to Victim's Suicide

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended Ifeanyi Ogbonna, 40, widely known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” in connection with the alleged rape and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro. The arrest was prompted by a petition detailing a series of tragic events that unfolded after Agbro traveled to Asaba at Ogbonna’s invitation, reportedly for content creation training he promoted on his social media platforms.

According to the allegations, upon her arrival in Asaba on June 1, 2026, the suspect took Favour Agbro to a hotel where he allegedly raped her and subjected her to physical violence. Following the incident, she returned home visibly distressed and disclosed the ordeal to her parents. In the wake of the alleged assault, Favour recorded a video recounting her experience and the profound emotional distress she endured. Tragically, she later committed suicide by ingesting a toxic substance and died despite efforts to save her life, as confirmed by Edafe Bright, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command.

Upon receiving the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, swiftly directed the Area Command Effurun to initiate an immediate and thorough investigation into the serious allegations. Operatives of the Command promptly commenced their inquiry, leading to the arrest of Ifeanyi Ogbonna. During the preliminary investigation, Ogbonna reportedly made useful statements to the Police, with further investigation ongoing to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case.

Prior to her death, Favour Agbro recorded a full video detailing her encounter with the content creator, Odogwu Asaba, and specifically recounted how she was allegedly raped inside a hotel. This video served as a crucial piece of evidence documenting her experience before her suicide.

Adding another dimension to the developing case, activist Joe Israel released a video showing Ifeanyi Ogbonna, Odogwu Asaba, in handcuffs and kneeling as he pleaded for a settlement with the victim's family. In the video, Ogbonna expressed deep remorse, stating, “This is a very terrible mistake. I am ready to give up everything.”
