Tragedy Strikes Nollywood: Veteran Actress Peju Ogunmola Mourns Loss of Only Child

Ace actress Peju Ogunmola, daughter of the late veteran actor Kola Ogunmola and wife of veteran comic actor Sunday “Papi Luwe” Omobolanle, has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of her only child, 24-year-old Ayomikun. The tragic news of his passing, also referred to as Oluwasinaayomi or Shina, was widely announced by her colleagues on their social media pages on Tuesday.
Ayomikun, a singer, had recently completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program just a few months prior to his demise. His death occurred on Tuesday, reportedly while Peju Ogunmola was on a movie set. The exact cause of his death and the location where he passed remained unknown at the time of reporting.
The news was initially shared by actress Biola Adebayo on Instagram, who confirmed Ayomikun was indeed the actress’s only child. Adebayo wrote, “This is a big loss. This is devastating and heartbreaking. This is tragic. May God Almighty comfort mummy Peju Ogunmola, who just lost her only child. May God Almighty be with the family and loved ones at this tough time.” Other prominent actors and filmmakers, including Odunlade Adekola, Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo, Wumi Toriola, Femi Branch, Seun Oloketuyi, and Sotayo Gaga, also took to social media to express their grief and offer condolences.

Muyiwa Ademola conveyed his deep sorrow on Instagram, stating, “This is sad! It is such a sad news!! It broken the heart. No accurate words of condolences. The words are not coming. Not even sure if this is right or wrong. Just felt I should do something. The ONLY ONE to console you is GOD! May The Almighty be with you Aunty. This is too much to shoulder, too much to bear.” Femi Branch also shared his shock, recalling, “I had an instant headache when I heard the news on set yesterday. Ha it shook me to my very core. Aunty mi. Only God can comfort you. This is too much and no Parent would wish this on another Parent. God will hold and comfort you Ma.”
Tributes from fans have continued to pour in on Peju Ogunmola’s Instagram page, reflecting the widespread shock and grief within the community. In a poignant memory, the actress had proudly announced the release of her son’s first single of the year,“Abena,” in February, urging her fans to stream the track, a stark contrast to the current wave of sorrow.
