Florida Rapper POORSTACY Dies at 26 as Fans Mourn Rising Talent

Carlito Milfort Jr., widely known as the Florida rapper POORSTACY, has died at the age of 26, according to confirmation from the Boca Raton Police Department. Details remain limited, as officers responded to an incident over the weekend, and while fans have flooded his social media with speculation, authorities have not released an official cause of death.
Early reports suggest law enforcement was called to a hotel in Boca Raton on Saturday morning. A hotel staff member reportedly told TMZ that POORSTACY experienced a medical emergency before being transported to a local hospital for treatment. The rapper had reportedly been staying at the hotel for several days, though Billboard has been unable to independently verify these claims.
POORSTACY gained recognition for his distinctive fusion of hip-hop with rock subgenres such as heavy metal, punk, and post-hardcore—a sound that caught the attention of artists like Travis Barker and Bring Me the Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes. He collaborated with Sykes on “Knife Party” and worked extensively with Barker, highlighting his versatility and ability to bridge multiple musical scenes.
Signed to Elliot Grainge’s label 10k Projects, POORSTACY released two studio albums that helped solidify his place in the alternative-rap landscape. He also appeared on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the 2020 film Bill & Ted Face the Music, alongside artists such as Weezer and Mastodon.
Continuing to release music in the months leading up to his passing, POORSTACY dropped “Nothing belongs to you.” in July and later collaborated with Paris Shadows on “Last Time Around” in October. His evolving sound and growing catalog left a strong impression on fans and peers, many of whom are now sharing tributes as the music community processes this profound loss.
