Tragedy Strikes: Florida Rapper POORSTACY Passes Away at 26

Carlito Milfort Jr., known professionally as the Florida rapper POORSTACY, has tragically died at the age of 26. His passing was confirmed by the Boca Raton Police Department, following an incident that occurred on Saturday at a specific address. While fans have inundated POORSTACY's Instagram posts with comments suggesting his death was by suicide, authorities have not yet confirmed the official cause of death.

Reports indicate that law enforcement was called to a hotel in Boca Raton on Saturday. A hotel worker reportedly informed TMZ that POORSTACY suffered a medical emergency on Saturday morning and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. The rapper had allegedly been staying at the hotel for 10 days, reportedly checking in with a woman and a toddler, though Billboard was unable to independently confirm these details.

POORSTACY began to gain significant attention in the music industry for his distinctive blend of hip-hop with various rock genres, including heavy metal and post-punk. This unique sound captivated notable musicians such as Travis Barker and Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes. He collaborated with Oli Sykes on the track “Knife Party” and produced multiple songs with Barker, showcasing his versatility and appeal across different musical landscapes. POORSTACY also released two studio albums under the Elliot Grainge-owned label, 10k Projects.

His career highlights also include an appearance on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the 2020 film “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” which featured prominent bands like Weezer and Mastodon. More recently, POORSTACY released his song “Nothing belongs to you.” in July, and collaborated with Paris Shadows on “Last Time Around” in October, continuing to produce music up until his untimely death.
