ARISE News Channel is mourning the loss of its esteemed News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, fondly known as Sommie. She tragically passed away at the age of 29 in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, following an armed robbery attack at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.

In an official statement, the management and staff of ARISE News expressed deep sorrow and shock over her untimely death, describing her as a cherished member of the ARISE family and a vibrant voice in Nigerian journalism. “Somtochukwu was more than a colleague; she was a beacon of professionalism, passion, and warmth. Her presence in the newsroom and on screen touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark,” the statement read.
