Torrens Health acquires CareApp Group, CEO Allison Nikula to lead innovation
Torrens Health has announced its full acquisition of CareApp Group, the award-winning digital platform that connects care providers with families. The acquisition is designed to strengthen Torrens Health’s digital capabilities ahead of the rollout of Australia’s new Aged Care Act and the sector’s ongoing shift towards consumer-led, rights-based care.
CareApp will continue to operate under its brand, supporting residential aged care, home care and disability clients as part of the broader Torrens Health portfolio.
Founder and CEO of CareApp, Allison Nikula, will remain in her leadership role and also step into an expanded position as General Manager, Innovation for the Torrens Group. In this role, she will drive strategic growth, creative partnerships, and scalable solutions that amplify impact across the organisation.
“CareApp was born from a vision to make communication between care providers and families easy, beautiful and safe. With the strength of Torrens Health behind us, we can now scale that vision further – empowering care recipients, their loved ones, and the people who care for them with greater reach and innovation.”

The CareApp team will remain in place, continuing to deliver their award-winning technology that enhances transparency, engagement and quality of life in care settings.
Torrens Health Managing Director Joel Hepburn-Brown welcomed the acquisition, describing CareApp as a natural fit for the organisation’s innovation strategy.
“CareApp has already improved the experience of tens of thousands of families and care recipients,” he said. “We’re thrilled to welcome Allison and her team. Her vision and leadership will be instrumental as we continue evolving the future of care, one that is not only clinically excellent, but emotionally intelligent and human-centred,” Mr Hepburn-Brown added.
