Just like makeup and fashion trends, nail trends are ever-changing and evolving. While some of the time new and exciting designs, patterns or color combinations are introduced, other times classics are reinvented for the modern moment. Who doesn't love a good throw back? Since these trends are constantly changing, sometimes it can be difficult to keep up. Do we go with a simple set, an eye catching design, are neutrals still in or should we opt for a hot new color? That's where the experts come in! They know just what everyone is getting excited about.

That's why we asked Meagan Swartwood, community manager at Arctic Fox, and Christina Kao, co-CEO/co-founder of Le Mini Macaron, for the top nail trends and those coming up for summer 2025. Continue reading to discover your next trendy nail set.

Both Swartwood and Kao say that aura nails are especially hot right now. "These dreamy, ethereal nails mimic the soft color gradients of spiritual aura photography," Swartwood says. "The blended watercolor effect creates a uniquely personal vibe that's both mystical and totally on-trend right now." Kao shares that her favorite combination at the moment is pink and orange.

Nail artist @_thejadeaesthetic shared a lovely nude version of the trendy glazed donut look. While this natural color is perfect for weddings, "the pearly chrome finish gives your nails that 'just glazed' glow, perfect for summer," Kao says.

"These semi-sheer, candy-colored nails give major Y2K throwback energy in the best way possible," Swartwood says. "The slightly translucent finish creates a juicy, popsicle-like effect that's perfect for showing off your summer tan."

Swartwood says that "while classic metallics are always fire, don't be afraid to try the trending colored chromes – that holographic green or pink shimmer hits different in the sunlight!" Another aspect of the chrome trend is "metallic swirls over nude, clear or pastel bases, combining Y2K nostalgia with a sleek, modern edge," Kao adds.

"Each nail features a different design, flames, florals, patterns. For an eclectic, editorial finish. This trend is so much fun!" Kao says. Swartwood feels similarly in that "each nail becomes its own tiny canvas featuring different patterns, textures, and 3D elements."

According to Kao, "A soft, pastel yellow that feels fresh, understated, and perfect for spring or summer is the number 1 nail trend at the moment. Mix this one with a glazed finish for an IT GIRL moment." Nail artist @nailsbykate.cle provides a perfect example with added floral designs.

"Sometimes less really is more, especially when it comes to these delicate designs," Swartwood says. "A tiny heart here or dainty ribbon there is all you need to elevate your neutral mani from basic to breathtaking."

Nail artist @_thejadeaesthetic shares a lovely rose version of the trend. "[It] creates a soft, shifting shimmer that mimics the look of crushed velvet," Kao says. "I love this trend as it is elegant and sophisticated at the same time as fun and edgy. You can create endless looks with just one polish."

"This retro pattern is having a major comeback moment," Swartwood says. "Whether you go classic with black dots on white or mix it up with bold color combos, this timeless design proves that sometimes the simplest ideas make the biggest statement."
