Tom Cruise Plans to Make Movies Until 100

Tom Cruise, the 62-year-old actor known for his dedication to action films, particularly the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, has expressed his intention to continue making movies well into his 100s. This ambition surpasses even Hugh Jackman’s jokingly contractual plan to play Wolverine until 90.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival during a screening of "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning," Cruise told The Hollywood Reporter about his passion for filmmaking and his lack of retirement plans. He corrected a previous statement about making movies into his 80s, stating, "I actually said I’m going to make movies into my 80s; actually, I’m going to make them into my 100s. I will never stop. I will never stop doing action, I will never stop doing drama, comedy films — I’m excited."
Cruise, who made his film debut in 1981 with "Endless Love" and gained recognition with 1986’s "Top Gun," has starred in the "Mission: Impossible" series since 1996. He emphasized the rewarding nature of his filmmaking experiences, highlighting the collaborations, crews, cultures, and continuous learning about storytelling, life, leadership, and character.
Known for performing his own stunts, Cruise revealed that he follows pre-stunt rituals to stay safe, emphasizing the complex and interesting thought process involved. He also shared his high-energy breakfast routine before stunts, consuming a large meal including sausages, a dozen eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, and fluids to fuel his demanding physical activities.
Cruise's drive to stay active and curious aligns with traits commonly observed in centenarians. He mentioned engaging in activities like sea-kayaking, caving, fencing, treadmill workouts, weights, rock-climbing, hiking, and jogging. Research indicates that maintaining an active mind and body, along with a zest for life, contributes to longevity. Studies have identified traits such as being active, challenging one's mind, taking commitments seriously, and being curious as common among centenarians.
While genetics and environment play a role in healthy aging, lifestyle choices, including diet and exercise, significantly impact longevity. Cruise’s commitment to filmmaking and physical activity reflects a dedication to staying young and engaged, potentially enabling him to achieve his goal of making movies into his 100s.
