Toluwanisings' Tragic Death: Family Confirms Loss Amidst Fundraiser Controversy and Final Moments Revealed

Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, tragically passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, at the age of 41. His death, which came swiftly after he slumped following a performance, has sent shockwaves through the gospel music community and beyond.

According to his personal assistant, Babaduni Gbolabo, Toluwanisings slumped in Ibadan, Oyo State, hours after performing at 'In His Presence,' a worship program hosted by fellow gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba on Tuesday night. Gbolabo recounted the desperate efforts to secure medical attention for the singer, stating that he was rushed to approximately seven or eight hospitals, including the University College Hospital (UCH), which was on strike. Despite their frantic search, no medical assistance could be rendered, leading to his untimely death. Gbolabo emphasized that the singer had shown no prior signs of illness, making his collapse entirely unexpected.

The family officially confirmed his passing in a statement shared on his verified social media pages. Describing him as a beloved husband, family member, and gospel minister, the statement requested prayers for his wife, family, and loved ones during this difficult time. They assured the public that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

News of Toluwanisings' death quickly spread across social media, drawing a flood of tributes and condolences from fans, colleagues, and celebrities. Nollywood actress Funke Akindele mourned him as a humble, hardworking, and gentle man, while actresses Mo Bimpe and Nkechi Blessing also expressed their profound grief.

This tragic incident occurred just about three months after Toluwanisings and his music crew miraculously survived a severe road accident involving a fully loaded trailer in July. Returning from a gospel ministration, their vehicle was badly damaged, but the singer and his team emerged unharmed, an event he gratefully shared on Instagram, writing, “And we survived what would have claimed our lives.”

Toluwanisings was a respected figure in the gospel music scene, celebrated for his powerful worship performances and songs. His discography includes popular tracks such as ‘Eleda,’ ‘I’m Not Alone,’ ‘Kos’oluwa Laye,’ ‘A Very Big God,’ ‘E Lagbara,’ and ‘Unreserved Praise.’ His music gained wider recognition in 2021 after comedian Woli Arole shared one of his songs online, introducing his work to a broader audience.

In the wake of his death, his family and management have issued a strong disclaimer against a viral fundraising poster seeking financial contributions for his wife and children. They emphatically stated that this initiative was not legitimate and urged the public to report the page responsible, reiterating that any official announcements would come directly from his verified social media accounts.
