To Atone For June 12, Use Proceeds From Your Book Launch To Complete National Library, CERLSI Advises IBB
The Civil Empowerment and Rule of Law Support Initiative (CERLSI) has said that for Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, former military president to atone for his mishandling of the June 12 1993 presidential elections won by Chief MKO Abiola, he should consider using all the proceeds from the launch of his book, A Journey in Service, to complete the National Library in Abuja.
Bob Majiri Oghene Etemiku, CERLSI Deputy Executive Director, said that the completion of the abandoned National Library complex in Abuja with proceeds from the Babangida’s book launch has the capacity to leave a lasting legacy of his years in the minds of Nigerians than building a new presidential library in Minna Niger State.
“With that singular gesture, IBB resets public perception of his years of service, heals part of the wounds from the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential elections and prepares the ground for genuine reconciliation over the mistake of that unfortunate annulment’, Mr. Etemiku said.
CERLSI is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) committed to advancing human rights, governance, democracy and the rule of law.
