Tiwa Savage Launches Music Foundation in Partnership with Berklee to Empower African Creatives
Tiwa Savage unveils the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, partnering with Berklee College of Music to mentor and train African artists, producers, and music professionals through an intensive, tuition-free program.
Tiwa Savage, a global music icon, has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation (TSMF), inspired by her transformative experience at Berklee College of Music.
At 24, Savage received a scholarship to Berklee, which she credits for expanding her global perspective and shaping her career trajectory.
TSMF aims to discover and develop the next generation of African music creatives, including artists, producers, engineers, songwriters, publishers, lawyers, and composers—the “architects of structure, ownership, and longevity” in the industry.
A cornerstone of the foundation is the Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Programme, part of Berklee’s first-ever Berklee on the Road initiative in Nigeria.
Berklee President Jim Lucchese called the program a unique opportunity to increase access to Berklee’s curriculum and support global talent development.
Jason Camelio, Assistant VP for Berklee Global Programs, emphasized that the program provides a historic pathway for emerging African creatives to enrich their educational and artistic experiences.
The foundation also prepares participants for the evolving music landscape, including technologies like Artificial Intelligence, ensuring African creatives become leaders rather than observers.
The intensive program runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., ending with a live showcase of original work blending global styles with West African traditions.
Selected participants receive scholarships and guidance on further studies through Berklee’s in-person and online programs. Applications are open across Africa and close on March 20, 2026.
The program is highly selective, tuition-free, and designed to equip African music professionals with the skills and networks needed to thrive globally.
