Titi Abubakar Slams Tinubu: 'Nigerians Are Struggling, Nothing Works!'
Titi Abubakar, wife of the ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has severely criticized the Tinubu administration's economic policies and lack of rule of law, expressing alarm over the rising cost of living in Nigeria. She urged youths to mobilize for Atiku's 2027 presidential bid, emphasizing his experience, commitment to reform, and a pledge for significant youth and women representation in government, while also warning against vote-buying.
Titi Abubakar, the wife of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, has voiced strong criticism against the Bola Tinubu administration, specifically targeting the current state of the Nigerian economy. Speaking at an ADC All Support Groups Town Hall Meeting in Abuja, Mrs. Abubakar expressed her deep concern regarding the rising cost of living and questioned how average Nigerians are managing to cope with the prevailing economic challenges.
During her address, Titi Abubakar accused the present government of undermining both the constitution and the rule of law, asserting that "Nothing is working. Our economy is in shambles." She further questioned the country's budgeting process, highlighting a perceived lack of a budget from 2023 to the present day, and pondered aloud about the survival strategies of citizens amidst such difficulties.
She presented her husband, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, as the solution to the nation's woes, stating his intention to seek the presidency to rectify what she described as Nigeria's declining fortunes and to significantly improve the lives of its citizens. "Atiku wants to put things right. We want to be like other nations, but here and now, we don't have anything at all. We are not proud of ourselves," she emphasized.
Looking ahead to the 2027 presidential election, Mrs. Abubakar portrayed Atiku as an experienced and capable politician, highlighting his previous track record and philanthropic efforts. She stressed that if elected, Atiku would not need to learn on the job, characterizing him as a "sellable material" and not a "novice."
Titi Abubakar also revealed Atiku's pledge to serve for only one term if he secures the presidency, expressing confidence that his performance during this period would be so impactful that Nigerians would demand a second term. She added that the initial term would also provide an opportunity for Atiku to mentor and prepare his deputy for a potential succession.
A significant portion of her remarks was dedicated to galvanizing the youth, whom she urged to actively mobilize at the grassroots level and serve as the ADC's "foot soldiers" in the upcoming 2027 election. She relayed Atiku's commitment that, should he become president, youths and women would constitute 40 percent of all government appointments.
Furthermore, Titi Abubakar issued a stern warning to voters against the perils of vote-buying, advising them not to accept money from politicians in exchange for their votes. She argued that such actions could effectively mortgage the future of younger, unborn generations. "Don't be a sellout. Because these people, they have all our money in their kitties. Don't allow them to come and give you money, and you sell your conscience. If you sell your vote, you are selling the vote of your generation yet unborn," she cautioned.
