Tinubu treated Buhari with dignity, honour even in death - Ex-aide
A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has praised President Bola Tinubu, saying he did everything and even more for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other government officials received the remains of Buhari at the Katsina Airport ahead of his burial in Daura on Tuesday, which they all actively participated in.
“President Bola Tinubu did everything, and even more, for Baba, his longtime political ally. His actions during these deeply emotional days were not only presidential but extremely personal. He didn’t just give instructions, he personally took part in everything. It was so unprecedented,” Ahmad wrote on X.
“From the moment the news of Baba’s passing, he ensured that everything was done with honor, dignity and respect. He gave clear directives, mobilized the necessary agencies and still made time to be personally involved and be there.
“He personally received Baba’s remains at the airport and rather than take the prepared presidential chopper to Daura, he chose to travel by road from Katsina to Daura alongside the body. That decision spoke volumes.
“He was in Daura to personally make the final salute to a true ally. Mun gode, Mr. President.”
In a statement by Vice President’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, it was a solemn moment as President Tinubu, Shettima and government officials receive the remains of Buhari at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Katsina on arrival from London.
Following the announcement of Buhari’s passing in London, Shettima departed Abuja on Sunday, under the directive of President Tinubu, to oversee the repatriation of the body to Nigeria.
Tinubu also led a high-level federal government delegation to the burial ceremony of the late former president.
