Tinubu's Unblemished Primary Victory in Zulum's Ward

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a resounding unanimous victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election for the 2027 general election. The primary was held in Mafa Ward of Borno State, which is notably the home ward of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, underscoring the significance of the outcome.

The direct primary election, conducted at Mafa Central Primary School, was meticulously supervised by the Chairperson of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Hajiya Inna Alkali Imam. In a decisive display of support, President Tinubu garnered 2,175 votes out of the total votes cast, representing a perfect 100 per cent of all valid votes in the ward. The ward recorded a high turnout among its 2,277 registered party members, signaling strong engagement in the electoral process.

President Tinubu's only challenger in the primary, Stanley Osifo, a businessman and APC chieftain hailing from Edo State, did not receive any votes. Governor Zulum, who played a dual role as Coordinator and Collation Officer for the presidential primary in Borno State, was present in his home ward to personally observe and participate in the exercise. He acknowledged the presence of both candidates, stating, “I am from Mafa Ward, and that is why I am here to witness and participate in the exercise. We have two candidates, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr Stanley Osifo.”

Following his participation, Governor Zulum expressed considerable satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and the impressive turnout of party members. He further elaborated on the results, confirming, “So far so good, we have conducted the presidential primary for Mafa ward, and I am very impressed with the turnout. We have a total of about 2,277 registered party members in Mafa ward, out of which 2,175 were accredited for voting, and all of them voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while the other candidate scored zero.” The APC presidential primary elections are currently ongoing across various parts of the country, with final national results anticipated upon the completion of all collation processes.
