Tinubu's 2027 Bid Ignites: CPC Stalwarts Rally for Re-election!

Key figures from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc recently convened at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to express their unconditional and unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration. The delegation, which included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, pledged solidarity with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and committed to ensuring President Tinubu's re-election for a second term in 2027.
Speaker Tajudeen, speaking on behalf of the former CPC members, emphasized that despite suggestions of fragmentation, the bloc remains intact and loyal, with over 90 percent of its pioneer leaders actively supporting the current government. He assured President Tinubu of their commitment to the 'Renewed Hope Agenda', which aims to reposition Nigeria for the betterment of its citizens. Plans were unveiled for the creation of a nationwide movement, dubbed 'Former CPC Members for Asiwaju', which will cascade down to local government areas, wards, and polling units to mobilize support for the President and his government.
Both Speaker Tajudeen and Senator Al-Makura used the occasion to express profound gratitude to President Tinubu. They particularly highlighted his pivotal role in the 2010 political partnership and the subsequent 2013 merger of legacy parties that formed the APC, a collaboration described as instrumental in actualizing the long-held dream of former President Muhammadu Buhari's presidency. Al-Makura noted that Tinubu and Buhari shared a vision of a Nigeria built on justice, economic sovereignty, and good governance, which laid the foundation for the APC platform.
Furthermore, the CPC leaders commended President Tinubu for the unprecedented respect and support shown to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and his family, especially during his passing. Speaker Abbas detailed the President's personal involvement and the state support accorded to Buhari's family, calling it a commendable and historic gesture that would not be forgotten by the CPC family.
Responding to the pledges of support, President Tinubu made significant announcements regarding Nigeria's economic trajectory. He boldly declared that his administration had achieved its revenue mobilization targets for the entire year by August, thus eliminating the need to borrow further to fund government operations. He stressed that prudent management and home-grown revenue generation now underpin Nigeria’s economic outlook, with non-oil revenue performing strongly and the Naira stabilizing. The President affirmed, "Nigeria is not borrowing again."
President Tinubu also articulated his administration's vision for food security and poverty eradication. He unveiled plans for a nationwide mechanization program, including the establishment of farm centers in every region to boost agricultural productivity and ensure food sovereignty. This initiative, he stated, is central to lifting millions out of poverty and building infrastructure for export and import to create jobs and opportunities. He urged his supporters not to be distracted by political noise ahead of 2027, assuring them that his administration remains singularly focused on delivering prosperity through reforms.
Speaker Tajudeen also pointed out the significant representation of former CPC members in the current government, noting that it is the first time they have three serving governors of CPC extraction, along with numerous ministers, members of the House of Representatives, and chief executives. He attributed these achievements to President Tinubu's support for them and the former CPC, affirming that their dreams were made possible through this partnership. The delegation, comprising former ministers, national party executives, and other stalwarts, reinforced their collective commitment to support President Tinubu in all his endeavors, now and in the future.
