Tinubu, Ministers to Attend Investiture of New NACCIMA President

All arrangements have been concluded for the investiture of a Nigerian Business Mogul, Engr Jani Ibrahim as the new President, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture. (NACCIMA)

The investiture ceremony is part of the activities lined up for the 65th Annual General Meeting/Conference of the association, scheduled to hold between Tuesday and Thursday next week (June 17th and 19th, 2025) in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, North Central Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu and three Ministers in the Federal Executive Council are expected to grace the event.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee op event, Engr Abu Salami, while addressing newsmen listed the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; his counterpart in Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwoye; and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN as those expected at the event.

He said the incumbent President of NACCIMA, Chief Dele Oye, and members of his cabinet would also be in attendance at the event tagged “Harmony 2025” to handle the baton of leadership to the new president and his team.

Salami disclosed that Jani Ibrahim, who is currently the Deputy National President of NACCIMA, would be the first Kwara indigene to attain the seat in the association since its creation in 1960.

He said the emergence of the incoming NACCIMA boss was through succession as encapsulated in the association’s constitution for a rancour free process.

Salami, who is the first Deputy President of Kwara Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), added that members of the political class in the country would have to take a cue from the association to avoid stoking tension in the democratic space.

“By the constitution of NACCIMA, the arrangement to elect their officers is by succession, which is two years. This arrangement is perfect and succession makes transition peaceful and free from rancour,” he said.

Salami, who addressed Journalists alongside executive members of KWACCIMA and its Director General, Prince Ayo Fagbemi, said Ilorin would be agog with the presence of business leaders, entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders for the conference from across the country.

In his remarks, the Vice President (1) of KWACCIMA, Yinka Yahaya disclosed that the task before Engr Jani Ibrahim after his installation is to liase with the Federal Government on how to promote productive environment rather than importation of food.

According to him, the country needs to promote it’s local products to make her currency stronger thereby reducing importation of goods and services to the country.

Other members of KWACCIMA that spoke at the press briefing expressed confidence in the ability and capability of Engr Jani Ibrahim in turning around the economy of the country positively but however , called for the support of government and Nigerian entrepreneurs in achieving this aim.

Among other programmes lined up for the event, include cultural night, golf tournament, visit to companies and dinner night.
