Tinubu celebrates Gov Alia at 59

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to Benue Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia who marks his birthday today.
In a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Governor Alia’s enduring commitment to compassion, peace, and integrity, as a man of the cloth and public servant.
“The President extols Governor Alia’s compassion and humanitarian spirit, which is evident from his service in the priesthood and public office.
“He notes that the Governor has remained faithful to his calling, translating the virtues of integrity and selflessness into transformative leadership for the people of Benue State,” the statement reads.
Alia, who assumed office in 2023, has earned national attention for his calm yet firm approach to leadership in a state long plagued by ethno-religious strife and developmental challenges.
Tinubu praised Alia’s commitment to peace and stability, lauding the Governor’s “courage and clarity” in pursuing lasting solutions.
The President also underscored his administration’s support for the Governor’s developmental agenda, which he said aligns with the broader goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda—his signature national policy framework aimed at securing the country, uplifting citizens, and promoting unity.
He said: “I urge you to continue steering Benue State on a path of healing, progress, and purposeful governance. The nation stands with you, Governor Alia.
“On this special day, I pray for God’s continued blessings upon you—granting you wisdom, strength, and good health as you steer Benue toward greater heights.
“Happy Birthday, Governor Alia!” the President declared.
Reverend Father Alia, a Roman Catholic priest, made history in 2023 as one of the few clergymen to be elected governor in Nigeria, bringing with him a reputation for empathy, discipline, and grassroots engagement.
His tenure so far has been marked by renewed efforts to improve rural infrastructure, reduce communal clashes, and rebuild trust among the diverse communities of Benue State.
