Tina Knowles' Pre-Surgery Song: Beyoncé and Solange's Emotional Support Revealed

Tina Knowles, celebrated designer and matriarch of the Knowles family, recently recounted a deeply personal and heartwarming experience that unfolded just before she underwent surgery to remove a tumor in her left breast late last year. Speaking to People at the 27th Annual Angel Ball in New York City, Knowles revealed the touching way her daughters, global superstars Beyoncé and Solange, provided comfort and strength in her moment of vulnerability.
Right before being wheeled into the operating room, Knowles shared that her two daughters performed a live serenade, singing a gospel song. The tune, which Knowles absolutely loves, was identified as “Walk With Me.” This powerful musical offering served as a profound source of solace and emotional support for Knowles as she prepared for her procedure.
Adding a touch of humor and lightness to the tense situation, Bey and Solange also ensured their mother went into surgery with a smile. They showed her a viral TikTok video featuring Jools Lebron, who famously reminds followers to always be “very demure, very mindful.” Knowles recalled, “There was this woman who was saying, ‘You have to be demure,’ and they just kept saying this and showing me that video.” This blend of spiritual comfort and comedic relief left Knowles feeling “laughing and feeling so blessed — like everything was going to be OK. And it was. It so warms my heart.”
Knowles has been openly sharing her journey battling cancer, both through various interviews and in her April memoir, “Matriarch.” In her book, she specifically highlighted the unwavering presence and support of her daughters throughout the process, writing, “My girls became my team.” She detailed Beyoncé’s reaction to her breast cancer diagnosis, noting, “[Beyoncé] took it well, staying positive … I could already feel her mind racing, focusing on this as a task to tackle with precision,” underscoring the formidable team approach to her health challenge.
Beyond sharing her personal story, Knowles has used her platform to strongly advocate for proactive health measures. In an interview coinciding with the release of her memoir, she stressed the critical importance of never skipping mammogram appointments. “You cannot play around with that,” she warned. Knowles emphasized, “I think as women, sometimes we get so busy, and we get so wrapped up and running around, but you must go get your test. Because if I had not gotten my test early, I mean, I shudder to think what could have happened to me.” Her powerful message serves as a vital reminder for women to prioritize their health screenings.
