TIME100 Unveils Music's Next Wave: Rising Stars Crowned!

TIME magazine has officially unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 "TIME100 Next" list, an annual recognition of the world's most prominent rising stars across various fields. This year's roster, revealed on Tuesday, September 30, prominently features a diverse array of musicians from pop, Latin, country, and hip-hop genres, alongside actors, producers, political figures, activists, entrepreneurs, and innovators. The list aims to capture a snapshot of the current moment and spotlight individuals who are deemed to be profoundly changing the world.
Among the notable musicians gracing the 2025 list are Tate McRae, Gracie Abrams, GloRilla, Becky G, Rema, Fuerza Regida, Teyana Taylor, and Lainey Wilson. Each honoree is celebrated with a personal blurb penned by close friends or collaborators, offering unique insights into their impact and character. For instance, pop star Gracie Abrams received praise from her lifelong bestie and co-songwriter Audrey Hobert, who described her as "protective, and beautifully sensitive." Selena Gomez penned a heartfelt tribute to Latin music sensation Becky G, commending her for defining herself with a powerful presence and excelling as an artist, woman, advocate, and community voice.
Tate McRae, one of the three cover stars for this week’s "TIME100 Next" issues, was lauded by actress Dakota Johnson, who found McRae to be "magnetic" and expressed eagerness to witness her artistry evolve within the DNA of pop music. Another cover star, Jonathan Bailey, received a glowing commendation from his "Wicked" costar Ariana Grande, who expressed gratitude for spending time with such a "gifted, playful, and caring human being" deeply curious about art and life.
The "TIME100 Next" initiative extends beyond music, embracing a broad spectrum of talent. Past honorees include Sabrina Carpenter, who was featured last year, as well as SZA and Dua Lipa in previous editions. Sam Jacobs, TIME's editor-in-chief, articulated the mission behind the project: "While we’ve made it our mission to cover people who have reached the pinnacle of their fields, the ‘TIME100 Next’ is an opportunity to recognize those still on the rise." Jacobs emphasized that true influence knows no age and can manifest early in a career, a tradition that the 2025 class unequivocally upholds.
