TikToker Seaking crossed the line by insulting Pastor Adeboye

The Concerned Christian Youth Forum has condemned the actions of popular TikToker Ogunsanwo Olumide John, known as Seaking, who was recently arrested for allegedly insulting the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye.
Seaking was apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police in Lagos and transferred to the Federal Investigation Department (FID) in Abuja under the direction of DIG Dasuki Galandanchi on charges of cyberbullying.
The content creator had, in a now-viral TikTok video, branded Pastor Adeboye as “very stupid and foolish” for subjecting his congregation to a 100-day fast.
The petition leading to Seaking’s arrest was spearheaded by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum. The forum’s convener, Adama Paul James, condemned the TikToker’s actions, emphasizing the need to combat the growing menace of online harassment.
“This act of brazen cyber harassment is not only reprehensible but also strikes at the heart of our cultural norms and values. It undermines the crucial principle of respect for elders that is deeply embedded in our society,” James stated.
He further lamented the disturbing trend among some young content creators who insult respected Christian leaders under the guise of entertainment.
“The phenomenon of moral degeneration is reaching unprecedented levels, challenging the very fabric of our values. Christian leaders and elders deserve the utmost respect as they represent wisdom, experience, and our cultural legacy,” he added.
James confirmed that Seaking had been arrested and would be charged in court for his “unprovoked and disrespectful insult” against Pastor Adeboye.
“This constitutes a grave violation of Nigerian cybercrime law, specifically Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2024, as amended, which criminalizes cyber harassment and makes it punishable by imprisonment,” James stated.
The forum emphasized its resolve to no longer tolerate attacks on prominent Christian leaders, pledging to take decisive action against such behavior in the future.
