The collision was allegedly caused by Prince Oluwole Oluwalana, a palace affiliate driving a Venza vehicle who was attempting a U-turn.
An Akure-based legal practitioner, Sunday Michael, has been attacked by thugs allegedly linked to the Palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, in Ondo State.
SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred at the Post Office area along Oba Adesida Road, where the lawyer was knocked down while riding a motorcycle.
The collision was allegedly caused by Prince Oluwole Oluwalana, a palace affiliate driving a Venza vehicle who was attempting a U-turn.
Following the incident, a group of thugs reportedly led by one Oluwatuyi Adekanbi descended on the lawyer, seized his motorcycle, and transported it to the palace.
The bike was allegedly vandalised and stripped of its parts. The number plate was removed, and the rear lights and hazard lamps were damaged.
In the course of the assault, the lawyer also lost several personal belongings, including his wristwatch, eyeglasses, and a laptop.
A source confirmed to SaharaReporters that the attack left the lawyer shocked and physically shaken.
He explained that instead of Prince Oluwole to show concern for knocking the lawyer down, he put a call to his cohorts at the Palace, which is a stone-throw from the scene and his cohorts went to the scene in their numbers.
"The thugs led by one Oluwatuyi Adekanbi upon siting the lawyer exclaimed " you again? Are you the only person in Akure? Immediately after these remarks, they all descended heavily on the lawyer and began to beat him.
"After Tuyi was satisfied with the beating, he then ordered them to stop. Passers-by helped the lawyer to pick up some of the items he had in his bag that fell off and he was assisted with another bike which took him to the Police station.
"The lawyer was said to have reported the matter to the "A" Division Police station but when the DCO saw the gravity of the assault, he advised the lawyer to go and treat himself before coming to make any statement.
The source noted that this is not the first time Tuyi and his boys would do this. He personally told the lawyer that wherever he take him to that, he has the backing of the Deji of Akure.
"The lawyer returned the following day to make his statement with the police and the duo of Oluwole and Tuyi were invited. The matter which was later reported at the AIG Zone 17, is yet to be investigated till date.
The source said that the IPO of the case one Inspector Bello of the AIG Monitoring group has not even called on the complainant for once.
"The same Tuyi had in 2019 used his fellow thugs to attack the same lawyer and the matter got to the court but was later dismissed for lack of diligent prosecution."
Meanwhile, in a petition written by ATIMA K. Iwabi explained that when the matter was brought before the Deji, the Kabiyesi simply exonerated Tuyi and referred to him as a gift and blessing to Akure land who cannot be faulted.
"The Deji also claimed that Tuyi is the friend to the AIG and CP and so remains invincible. Our client became demoralised by this brazen injustice and decided to officially report this case to your office.
"We wish to state clearly that this is not the first time that Tuyi will be leading his cohorts from the palace to attack our client and we wish to put an end to this rascality.
"We therefore, urge your office to carry out a discreet investigation in this matter in order to allow our client live peacefully in Akure land where he has lived for twenty-four years and to avert the commission of father crime," Iwabi added.
