In an interview with journalists in Jalingo on Friday, Musa characterised the decision to hold the North East zonal consultative meeting at 11 am on Sunday, June 15, 2025, as an action that seems to marginalise the Christian constituents of the party.

While he expressed hope that this timing was simply an oversight, Musa cautioned that neglecting to amend it could convey “dangerous signals” regarding the party’s commitment to inclusivity and religious equity.

He said, “This timing is problematic. It clashes with Sunday church services, which is a central aspect of life for Christian members. Such scheduling either reflects a lack of sensitivity or a deliberate exclusion, neither of which is acceptable.

“If it is not corrected immediately, it will suggest that the APC has no regard for its Christian members in the region. That would reinforce the perception that the party is biased, which is not good for our unity or electoral prospects.

Musa called upon the party leadership to acknowledge Nigeria’s religious diversity and to arrange political activities in a manner that honours all faiths.

He emphasised that it would be inconceivable to schedule a comparable meeting during Friday Juma’ah prayers, suggesting a double standard.

“The APC is already battling a perception problem as a party for a particular religion. We must be cautious not to validate that view with our actions,” he cautioned.

The APC chieftain urged Governor Buni and the zonal leadership to reschedule the meeting to a more inclusive time that would allow full participation from both Christian and Muslim members.
