There's something fishy going on at Saint Laurent | Dazed

Anthony Vaccarello isn’t content with just designing clothes – though he probably could be, given the glowing reception some of his recent Saint Laurent collections have enjoyed. Announced today, he’s got something of a side-hustle going on, in the form of a chic new sushi restaurant in Paris

A favourite of Vaccarello’s and originally calling Los Angeles its home, Sushi Park will set up shop in the chi-chi First Arondissement, throwing open its doors slightly before the AW25 womenswear shows kick off in the French capital. Right now, there’s a bunch of reservations available, but when the fashion crowd move in… Well, good luck with that x.

The whole thing was debuted on Instagram via a new short film starring a bunch of friends of the house, including Lourdes Leon, Lennon Gallagher, and Saint Laurent. The moody short shows the group getting ready to head to the hottest dinner in town, and offers a glimpse at the sultry interiors of Sushi Park – all granite work tops, sensual wood carvings, brushed stainless steel, and seductive low-lighting.

Of course, it’s not the only side-hustle Vaccarello’s added to his repertoire. In 2023, the designer expanded YSL out into the cinematic universe, founding Saint Laurent Productions – a new arm dedicated to (you guessed it) producing both big-budget and smaller movies, thus cementing the house’s watertight connection with the silver screen. Since then, Saint Laurent has backed films by David Cronenberg and Paolo Sorrentino, and is currently basking in the success of Oscar-nominated flick Emilia Pérez

Beyond this move into movies, Saint Laurent also opened a book store in Paris, called Babylone, which will have you clearing your bank account to score all sorts of gorgeous coffee table tomes in no time – take Madonna’s Steven Meisel-lensed Sex book, for example, which was the subject of a small exhibition when Babylone first opened its doors.

As luxury spending continues to slowdown, adding a variety of experiential strings to their bow is something many big names are hot on right now. Gucci has its Michelin-starred dining experience in Florence, while a Louis Vuitton café recently popped up in Heathrow airport – and yes, the (extremely Instagrammable) cappuccinos are nice. Joining them is Alaïa, whose London store unveiled a new dining space and book store, where it serves up archive fashion, art, and culture books alongside chic treats from Rose Bakery. Expect plenty more where that came from.
