Apple TV+'s "The Studio" starring Seth Rogen earned 23 Emmy nominations, tying the record for most comedy series nominations with "The Bear" Season 2. The Hollywood satire outpaced "Hacks" and "The Bear" for the 77th Emmy Awards ceremony scheduled September 14

The Apple TV+ series outperformed two established Emmy winners in this year's comedy category. "Hacks," the HBO Max comedy series, earned 14 nominations, while "The Bear," the FX restaurant dramedy, received 13 nominations.

Jean Smart of "Hacks" won best lead actress in a comedy last year, and the series claimed best comedy. Jeremy Allen White of "The Bear" has won the lead acting award two consecutive years, with that series winning best comedy in 2023. Both Smart and White received nominations again this year. The 23 Emmy nominations for "The Studio" represent the most ever for a freshman comedy series, surpassing the previous record of 20 set by "Ted Lasso" in 2021. The recognition contributes to a banner year for Apple TV+, which debuted in 2019.

The streaming service also claimed the most-nominated series this year with Season 2 of "Severance," which earned 27 nominations and is favored to win best drama. Overall, Apple TV+ received 81 nominations, exceeding its previous high of 72 set last year.
