The secret behind Jyotika's 9 kilo weight loss is gut health, avoiding extreme diets and inspiration from this Bollywood actress - Lifestyle News | The Financial Express
Popular Tamil actress Jyotika, who was last seen in the Netflix series Dabba Cartel, is in the news these days for her impressive weight loss transformation, where she lost 9 kgs. She posted a long note through a series of pictures on her Instagram recently, talking about her weight loss journey. In one of the notes, she began by thanking actor Vidya Balan, for inspiring her and introducing her to Amura – which eventually helped her shed 9 kilos in just 3 months. Let’s find out more.
In her post, Jyotika focused on the importance of overall wellness over strict restrictions, crash diets and intense workout routines. She described how she would do extreme routines for losing weight, but the outcomes were always short-lived.
The Shaitaan actress thanked her trainer for helping her with a holistic approach, which prioritised gut health, self-awareness instead of harsh workout routines or diets, thus leading to long-term well-being. Jyotika credited Vidya Balan for her weight loss journey, as it all began with watching an interview of the actress. It inspired Jyotika’s relationship with food, health and self-care.
Jyotika started understanding how certain foods led to inflammation in her body and other food items promoted digestion and healing, courtesy the guidance of experts. Instead of cutting calories or skipping meals altogether, Jyotika learned to adopt mindful eating habits that accelerated her body’s natural processes. She described how her meals included more anti-inflammatory foods, along fibrous items, and nutrients that supported her gut. This made her weight loss gradual but also sustainable in the long run.

Besides the change in her food habits, Jyotika also shifted to weight training from intense cardio, under the guidance of her fitness coach, Mahesh. The actress mentioned that she found strength training to be more beneficial for building muscle, increasing energy, eventually leading her to feel more confident.
Beyond the physical transformation, Jyotika also spoke about the emotional well-being that was brought by her fitness journey. She emphasised on the importance of healing instead of punishment, and prioritising self-care over appearance-based pressure. She said that this mindset shift was crucial for her.
