The Mimic, alternatively known as Mimic2 or M2, is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's cooperative series. The Mimic also appears as the main antagonist in the RUIN DLC for Security Breach, and additionally the titular main antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
M2 started out as an experimental artificial intelligence housed in the body of a shapeshifting endoskeleton sometime in the mid-late '70s created by Edwin Murray to replicate and replace his dead son, David Murray following an unrelated accident which resulted in David's death. During a rage induced mental breakdown, Edwin attempted to violently destroy M2, in turn, infusing it with his agony, pouring his murderous thoughts and emotions into M2's systems, causing it to perpetually mimic Edwin's worst traits & turning it into a ruthless, sadistic serial killer that will massacre anyone it comes across. It lacks any one discernible identity & as such constantly alternates from costume to costume, putting on a wide array of personas to make up for the sense of self in which it lacks, using this trait to its advantage as a means to deceive its victims & catch them off guard.
Who created the Mimic in the Tales from the Pizzaplex series?
Edwin Murray, an engineer for Fazbear Entertainment, created the Mimic in the Tales from the Pizzaplex series. He designed the Mimic as a robot to look after his young son, David. The story of the Mimic is featured in Tales from the Pizzaplex 6: Nexie, authored by Andrea Waggener.

What was the original purpose of the Mimic's creation?
The Mimic, an entity from the FNAF universe, was initially programmed to observe and replicate the routines of other animatronics, eliminating the need for complex coding. It had the ability to adapt to any costume. However, it began to mimic people as well, which was not part of its original design, causing unforeseen complications.

What role does the Mimic play in the RUIN DLC for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach?
The Mimic is the primary antagonist in the Ruin DLC for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. It's a sophisticated endoskeleton that can mimic voices and behaviors to trick others. It dons various suits throughout the game and isn't associated with any animatronics. The Mimic also features prominently in the Tales from the Pizzaplex epilogues.

In the RUIN DLC, it has a smaller squared-off head similar to older classic endoskeleton models with vaguely humanoid teeth similar to the Daycare Attendant's endoskeleton teeth. Its right hand also resembles the classic endoskeleton one, with four fingers on it, while the left hand resembles the one Burntrap has. Both its legs are also different from one another; the left leg has some sort of wiring encasing it, and looks similar to Withered Bonnie's, while the right one resembles Spring Bonnie's. There is an outlet on the back of its head.
In Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, the Mimic's design is slightly more basic in terms of appearance while still remaining consistent. It possesses a more stripped down and less complete version of its framework from the RUIN DLC, except with the addition of its chest cavity containing its original battery power source that is noticeably absent in its later appearances. It possesses a pair of orange heated eyes made of electric coils, and its shoulders as well as its limbs are capable of extending or retracting, in addition to having hydraulic extensions like large heels for the Dollie costume. The battery box on its chest has wires running from it to the arms and rest of its body.
The Mimic lacks a lot of the plating, ramshackle panels, and protective coverings that are affixed around its burnt frame in its later appearances, appearing far more incomplete and more like a regular endoskeleton than a complete robot like in RUIN.
In the RUIN DLC, these violent traits are put on full display. The Mimic has demonstrated an adeptness at disguising its appearance to hide its endoskeleton body, as seen in the Scooper ending, and additionally it is a master of deception, as evident by its use of Gregory's voice to lure the former's friend; Cassie, into a trap under the premise that the real Gregory was trapped. In reality, the Mimic had been deceiving her the entire time, manipulating her into inadvertently freeing itself. The Mimic is highly resourceful and demonstrates a level of strategic thinking, as it was able to devise a plan to escape from the sinkhole underneath Roxy Raceway, using its voice and mimicry whilst being incredibly patient in setting its plan into motion. In the Scooper ending, it is implied that it the Mimic can be somewhat careless, given its lack of awareness of its surroundings, as it was caught off-guard by the Scooper model itself with much of its focus concentrated on capturing Cassie. In the chase itself, the Mimic is shown to be ruthless, persistent and unrelenting, as it pursues Cassie without pause even after Roxy delays its pursuit.
In Secret of the Mimic, the Mimic changes very little from how it appears in RUIN in terms of its violence and persistence. However the Mimic's personality is expanded, showing that it can hold grudges. The Mimic displays a rather sick sense of sarcasm and demonstrates a propensity to being abusive and petty. This is seen when it caused an explosive accident in Edwin's home office, it began to copy his voice and repeatedly mocked Edwin's helplessness while forcing him to reflect on his neglectful behavior in the past, demonstrating its grudge to its creator. Additionally the Mimic is shown to be rather sadistic as after the previous event, it makes fun of Edwin even further by talking about the new legs it built for its body.
