The Big 12 Has the Best Winning Percentage in March Madness 2025 Through Saturday
The 2025 NCAA Tournament wrapped up its Saturday’s games and the Big 12 Conference is off to a 9-1 start, which is the best winning percentage (90%) through Saturday of the NCAA Tournament thus far. The Big 12 went 3-0 on Saturday. The 90% winning percentage is ahead of the Big Ten at 83.3%.

On Saturday, there were three Big 12 teams trying to punch tickets to the Sweet 16. The day began with No. 3 Texas Tech beating No. 11 Drake 77-64, as the Red Raiders advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2022 under Mark Adams.
Then, it was No. 6 BYU handling No. 3 Wisconsin 91-89. This is the Cougars first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2011 under Dave Rose when BYU was a member of the Mountain West Conference.
And finally, the No. 1 seed Houston Cougars holding off No. 8 Gonzaga 81-76. A trip to the Sweet 16 is nothing new for Houston, who has made is to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. Now, the Cougars are two wins away from their first Final 4 since 2021.
Around the rest of college basketball, the Big Ten was off to an 8-0 start after the first round. But in the Round of 32, the league got off to a 2-0 start with Michigan and Purdue winning over Texas A&M and McNeese, respectively, to start of 10-0. But then, the conference lost its final two games of the night, in the aforementioned BYU vs. Wisconsin game, along with the UCLA game against Tennessee.
The Big 12 Conference has a chance to get six teams into the Sweet 16, if the league can have another 3-0 day on Sunday.
If the Big 12 Conference can have a sweep on Sunday, the league will have six teams in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, which would be tie a record set by the ACC in 2016.
