The award Is long overdue, Kunle Afolayan celebrates brother Gabriel Afolayan's AMVCA win
Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has celebrated his brother, actor Gabriel Afolayan, after he won Best Supporting Actor at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
In a post shared on Sunday, Kunle congratulated Gabriel and described the award as long overdue.
He wrote, “Congratulations Champion @gabbylucciii. The award is long overdue, but then, Iwaju iwaju lase Edumare.
“And to all my fellow colleagues that were nominated and those that won, Ire ni lojo gbogbo. Love always.”
Gabriel Afolayan won the award for his performance in Clarence Peters’ film Inside Life.
His role was widely praised for its emotional depth and strong screen presence, earning him one of the night’s biggest accolades.
The 11th edition of the AMVCA held on Saturday, in Lagos, brought together some of the industry’s finest.
Femi Adebayo and Chioma Chukwuka won Best Lead Actor and Actress respectively for their roles in Seven Doors.
Mercy Aigbe took home Best Supporting Actress for Farmer’s Bride, while Clarence Peters’ Inside Life continued to gain recognition across multiple categories.
The ceremony also honoured industry veterans Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while director Kayode Kasum was named this year’s Trailblazer.
