Texas Tech Basketball Missing Star Player vs. Drake
An important piece for Texas Tech, senior guard is expected to miss the Red Raiders’ second-round NCAA Tournament game vs. Drake.
The California native has missed the past two games for Texas Tech, dealing with a lingering upper-body injury.
McMillian was ruled out 30 minutes before tip in an incredibly tough matchup for the Red Raiders. The group is tasked with slowing down and the Drake Bulldogs after their upset win over No. 6 Missouri.
This season, McMillian is averaging 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 52.5% shooting from the field. In his first season of college basketball, McMillian has blossomed into one of the Big 12’s best two-way players.
On Friday, after the win over UNC Wilmington, head coach Grant McCasland provided an update on the status of McMillian, saying, “It’s significant in regards to impacting his ability to play the game and play it with a lot of confidence is one thing, but just to even get out there.”
“We’re still trying every day to put him in the best position,” McCasland continued, “and we’re hopeful that we can get him on the court, but it’s honestly so hard to say until we get out there and get him out there and see if he can go.”
Saturday’s game between Texas Tech and Drake tips off at 5:10 p.m. central, with the Red Raiders listed as 7.5-point favorites.
