Tesla Roadster 2.0: Is Elon Musk Adding Actual Rockets to Your Ride?

Tesla is generating significant buzz with the impending launch event for its highly anticipated Roadster 2.0, slated for October 15. The event, which promises to unveil more details about the "out of this world" vehicle, has been teased with hints of advanced propulsion, including what appear to be rocket boosters on the rear of the car.

The road to this announcement began with a cryptic post on X.com (formerly Twitter) on September 12, hinting at a major update for the long-promised Roadster 2.0, initially set for October 1. This post included a visual suggesting the integration of rocket technology, further fueling speculation about the car's extreme performance capabilities.

Further excitement was generated on September 24, 2026, when Lars Moravy, Tesla's Vice President of Engineering, presented a brief 9-second video teaser for the Roadster during a keynote address for the Tesla Semi launch. Screen captures from this video revealed a familiar white lightbar, akin to those found on the Tesla Cybertruck, Model Y, and Semi, flashing across the screen. Additionally, the "Roadster" name appeared in a new, distinct blue stylized font, adding to the mystique.

Originally scheduled for an earlier date, the launch event was postponed from October 1 to Thursday, October 15, due to adverse weather conditions. Tesla confirmed that the event will be livestreamed on Tesla.com, with proceedings kicking off at 6 p.m. Pacific time, or 9 p.m. Eastern time. Enthusiasts are encouraged to check back for live updates throughout the night of October 15 and for further information on October 16, as this is a continuously developing story.
