Terror Strikes North London: Two Stabbed in Suspected Antisemitic Attack

A disturbing terrorist incident unfolded in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, when two Jewish men were stabbed in what police suspect was an antisemitic attack. The assailant, a 45-year-old man, was apprehended after being seen running with a knife and attempting to stab Jewish members of the public. He also attempted to stab police officers who were detaining him, before being subdued with a stun gun and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The victims, one in his 70s and the other in his 30s, sustained stab wounds but are reported to be in stable condition in hospital, having received initial treatment from Hatzola, a Jewish volunteer ambulance service, and assistance from Shomrim, a Jewish neighborhood watch group.
This violent assault marks the latest in a worrying succession of antisemitic attacks targeting Jewish communities and institutions across London in recent weeks. North London, in particular, has experienced a spate of arson incidents, including the destruction of four Hatzola ambulances in late March, an attack on the Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow, premises belonging to a Jewish charity, and the Finchley Reform Synagogue last week. These attacks have prompted widespread alarm and concern among the Jewish community and authorities alike, with some incidents reportedly claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI), a group believed to be linked to Iran.
The investigation into the Golders Green stabbing is being led by counter-terrorism detectives, who are exploring potential links to terrorism and examining the suspect's mental health history. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident, stating that local and armed officers responded swiftly to reports of the stabbings in Highfield Avenue. While the incident has not yet been officially declared a terrorist act, this consideration is understood to be under review by senior counter-terrorism officials.
In response to the attack, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed deep concern, condemning the
