An attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Bitirhuya village, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has left four people dead, according to local authorities.

The attackers reportedly arrived on motorcycles and set fire to several houses during the assault, marking another security incident in Hong LGA following a series of reported breaches in recent weeks and years. The incident further highlights the persistent security challenges facing communities in the area.

The Chairman of Hong Local Government Council, Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad Yerima, confirmed the attack and visited Bitirhuya to commiserate with families who lost loved ones. Yerima said his administration would take aggressive measures to address the persistent security threats across the local government area. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid actions that could worsen the security situation. Yerima warned that individuals found harbouring criminals, collaborating with insurgents or undermining local peace efforts would be held accountable under the law.
