Terrifying Health Scare for Pregnant Chloe Radford Sparks Tears and Hospital Dash!

In a dramatic turn of events showcased on this week’s episode of “22 Kids and Counting,” Chloe Radford, the second eldest daughter of Noel and Sue Radford, experienced a terrifying pregnancy scare that led to a rushed trip to the hospital. At 29 years old and pregnant with her second child, Chloe admitted to feeling utterly exhausted, balancing her work at the family’s popular Radford Pie Company with caring for her first child, Mila. Her parents, Noel and Sue, voiced their concerns, urging her to slow down for the sake of her health, but Chloe remained committed to her demanding work schedule as a bakery manager.
The ordeal escalated during a shift at the pie shop when Chloe began feeling unwell. Her father, Noel, immediately shut down the shop to take care of her. However, a few hours later, her anxiety peaked when she realized she couldn't feel her baby moving, a significant departure from his usual activity. "He usually moves, he’s usually moving when I’m lying down," she stated, deciding to contact triage. Noel swiftly drove her to the hospital, where she was immediately scheduled for an emergency scan, leaving both Chloe and her boyfriend, Jacob Wallace, in a state of intense worry.
Thankfully, the scan confirmed that everything was alright, and the medical staff were able to locate the baby’s strong heartbeat. A visibly relieved Chloe shared her immense relief, describing the fear of not feeling movement as an "awful feeling" that left her hand shaking. Her partner, Jacob, echoed her sentiments about the "uneasy feeling the whole time." Chloe was overjoyed to confirm that her "baby boy seems happy in there on the monitor. His heartbeat is good," emphasizing the profound sigh of relief she felt.
Beyond the hospital scare, Chloe also bravely recounted her “brutal” labour story for the birth of her son, Bodhi Reign, who was welcomed into the world on April 28, 2025. This was two years after she and Jacob welcomed their daughter, Mila, on July 23, 2022. Chloe detailed the alarming experience of continuous heavy bleeding during her labour, which midwives suspected might be a dangerous issue related to her placenta. After her waters broke, what was expected to be amniotic fluid turned out to be blood, causing further concern among the medical team and leading to discussions about a potential C-section, which Chloe found extremely unsettling.
Despite the complications, her labour progressed at an astonishing pace. Chloe described her contractions as "absolutely brutal" and intensely fast, ramping up almost every minute. Although she had requested an epidural, her rapid progression meant she didn't have time to receive it. The entire process, from her first significant contractions to birth, lasted just under nine hours, with Chloe actively pushing for a mere nine minutes. In a critical moment, doctors needed to reposition her, and in the very next push, Bodhi was born.
Post-birth, it was revealed that her placenta had started to come away during labour, which explained the significant bleeding and was identified as a potentially dangerous complication. Chloe expressed her profound gratitude that her son arrived "absolutely fine" despite the challenging circumstances. Bodhi weighed six pounds six ounces and was born at 6:21 PM. The new family had to remain in the hospital for 24 hours post-delivery to monitor Chloe’s blood pressure, but since returning home, Bodhi has been "absolutely amazing."
