Ted Lasso Star Teases Exclusive Update for Apple TV's Next Sci-Fi Hit!

Juno Temple, known for her early career roles in films like Atonement, Mr. Nobody, and Killer Joe, achieved widespread recognition with her breakout role as Keeley Jones in the Apple TV+ hit series Ted Lasso, which has aired three seasons with a fourth potentially on the way. Following this success, Temple also featured in the acclaimed series Fargo, created by Noah Hawley, and had a significant role in the sci-fi threequel Venom: The Last Dance starring Tom Hardy.
Temple is now set to return to Apple TV+ in a new sci-fi dramedy series titled The Husbands, based on the novel by Holly Gramazio. The show follows Lauren, played by Temple, whose life takes an unexpected turn when a stranger claiming to be her husband appears in her home. When this husband goes to the attic to change a lightbulb, he is replaced by another, triggering an endless chain of new husbands that forces Lauren to critically examine her life choices.
During a recent interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub to promote another upcoming project, Swapped, Temple confirmed she was actively shooting The Husbands. She expressed both excitement and nervousness about the project, stating, "That's why I'm tired today. It's been a week of 5:00 a.m. starts. I'm excited about it. I'm nervous about it." She further elaborated on the series' thematic depth, highlighting its exploration of women and the profound impact of relationships and marriages in contemporary society. "I feel really excited about the exploration of a woman in it and the impact that relationships have, and, in this day and age, what interesting conversations you can have about relationships, about marriage, and about whether you want them or not. I think it's a really interesting topic."
Temple also lauded the production, costume, and makeup departments for their crucial contributions to the series, particularly how they create distinct visual universes for each husband. She described the process, saying, "with each universe of a husband that my character is exploring, the entire universe changes. So you have the set designer and all the props department practically changing wallpaper, lights, all the trinkets throughout a house, the plants, and my mind has been blown. It's the greatest build I've ever had the privilege of walking into." She noted her character uses "eight wigs in this, which is amazing" to reflect the subtle changes in her persona across these different realities. The collaborative nature of the production, involving lighting and interactions with co-stars, has made it a "really beautiful process" to watch all departments flourish, a rarity she believes in TV shows.
While Apple TV+ has not yet announced an official release date for The Husbands, Temple revealed that filming is expected to wrap around "the second week of June, maybe." She remains uncertain about the exact release timeline. Miriam Battye, known for her work on Succession, is adapting the novel for television, with Joel Kinnaman, Daniel Ings, and Richard Gadd also cast in key roles, adding significant star power. Regarding the show's potential for multiple seasons, Temple is unsure, stating, "I think we'd have to shift it a little bit for another season if there was a want to do that. But yeah, we'll see. I don't know." Fans can currently watch Temple in the first three seasons of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ and stay tuned for more updates on The Husbands and Swapped.
