Tech Giant Surge: Google's Alphabet Eyes Staggering $4 Trillion Valuation Milestone

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is on the verge of becoming the fourth company globally to achieve a $4 trillion market capitalization. The tech giant concluded Monday with a market cap of $3.82 trillion, after its shares surged by over 5% to a record high of $315.90. This significant milestone would place Alphabet alongside an exclusive group of companies that have previously reached this valuation, including Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple, although currently only Nvidia and Apple maintain this status.
The remarkable ascent of Alphabet's valuation in 2025 has been propelled by robust growth in its cloud business, identified as a primary driver. Concurrently, the company has made substantial strides in the artificial intelligence sector, leveraging Google’s strong position in the AI race with the recent introduction of Gemini 3. Alphabet's stock has not only risen by 5% on Monday but has also climbed by nearly 70% throughout 2025, outperforming its key AI rivals, Microsoft and Amazon.
Experts attribute this impressive stock performance to several factors, including the influence of Berkshire Hathaway’s CEO, Warren Buffett, as an investor, and the overwhelmingly positive early reviews of Google’s AI models. Mr. Steve Sosnick, chief market analyst at Interactive Brokers, highlighted that Berkshire’s stake has been instrumental in attracting further investors to Google’s parent company. Sosnick remarked, “Even though it’s doubtful Warren Buffett had any role in this purchase… the market is still in the mindset of anything Berkshire does is worth emulating, and to be fair, that’s working for a long time.”
Sosnick further suggested that Google is well-positioned to lead the AI race, largely due to its development of in-house chips. These proprietary chips offer a cost-effective alternative to Nvidia’s expensive processors, providing a strategic advantage. Additionally, Google’s core internet search business is anticipated to sustain its momentum through the seamless integration of advanced AI capabilities.
Alphabet’s strong market position and impending $4 trillion valuation also coincide with a significant legal victory for Google in its antitrust case. A US judge delivered a verdict on September 2, rejecting the government’s demand for Google to divest its Chrome web browser. However, the ruling did impose requirements aimed at restoring competition within the online search market. This case followed Judge Amit Mehta's finding in August 2024 that Google had illegally monopolized the online search market through exclusive distribution agreements worth billions of dollars annually.
For Google, preventing the forced sale of its Chrome business represented a major triumph, further bolstering investor confidence in the company’s future. Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, commented that the US Court verdict reaffirms the company's consistent assertion that competition in the industry is intense and consumers have a genuine choice of services. She also noted that the case underscored the transformative impact of AI on the industry. The ruling was widely regarded as one of the most crucial judgments against corporate monopoly practices in two decades, with experts acknowledging that a forced sale of the Chrome business could have fundamentally altered the tech giant’s trajectory.
