Tech Giant CWG Plc Undergoes Major Leadership Shake-Up: New CEO Announced

CWG Plc. has announced significant changes to its Board of Directors and subsequent management leadership, effective at the close of 2018 and the start of 2019. These changes mark the end of a notable tenure and the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the technology company.
Mr. James Agada, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of CWG PLC, concluded his three-year tenure on December 31, 2018, having commenced his role on January 1, 2016. Prior to his leadership as MD/CEO, Mr. Agada held key positions within the company, including Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director for the former software division, Expert Edge. Academically, Mr. Agada possesses impressive credentials, including a first-class degree and a master’s degree in Electronic Engineering with a specialization in Digital Systems from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA from the International Graduate School of Management (IESE), Navara, Spain. His professional standing is further highlighted by his role as pro term president of the Lagos Chapter of the Nigeria Computer Society, being recognized as one of ‘Nigeria’s Top 50 Tech-Titans’ in 2016 by Technology Africa, and his fellowship with the Institute of Directors. Reflecting on his long association with the company, Mr. Agada shared via Twitter, “Thanks to all my folks at @CWGAfrica and all our numerous customers. This year brings to a close a 20yr love affair that has produced many children. I’m glad to have played a small part in building this 25 year old startup.”
During his leadership, Mr. Agada leveraged his vast experience in consulting, software development, implementation, and support to guide CWG Plc. through transformative initiatives. These efforts were strategically designed to reposition the company as a preferred platform services provider across Africa. Key initiatives under his direction included the SmartMetering initiative, the ATM as a service initiative, BillsnPay, the Unified Cooperative Platform (UCP), and the Gaming Management platform. He also previously spearheaded the company’s entry into providing banking software through their partnership with Infosys and their proprietary FinEdge Core-Banking application. The Board of CWG Plc. has expressed profound gratitude for Mr. Agada’s years of dedicated service, leadership, and numerous accomplishments.
Following Mr. Agada’s departure, the Board of CWG Plc. has appointed Mr. Adewale Adeyipo as the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, with his appointment taking effect from January 1, 2019. Mr. Adeyipo, a homegrown talent, previously served as the Executive Director, Sales & Marketing. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Ilorin and is an Alumni of Lagos Business School (LBS). His professional development includes various Management and Leadership trainings and certifications from prestigious institutions such as Lagos Business School, Business School Netherlands, MIT, and the London Business School. Before his current appointment, Mr. Adeyipo held several significant leadership roles within CWG, including Business Development for the Telecommunications division in 2010 and Business Director for PAN Africa Initiatives in 2014. His expertise in sales was particularly instrumental during his more than 12 years of service as a Director in Consultative Sales and Managed Services Engagements for Telecommunication Companies, demonstrating a deep understanding of the market and business development.
