Superman post-credit scenes revealed: Fans predict Supergirl spinoff and new Justice League in James Gunn's DCU

Published 4 days ago3 minute read

James Gunn’s Superman is almost ready to take flight, and if the early reactions are anything to go by, we’re in for a wild ride. As one of the most anticipated reboots in comic book movie history, the film is introducing a new Man of Steel, setting the tone for the future of DC Studios under Gunn’s leadership. And while the studio kept many plot details under wraps, spoiler-heavy conversations are already gaining traction online thanks to test screenings and those ever-curious premiere guests, especially when it comes to the post-credits scenes.

The world premiere of Superman took place Monday night at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, and the event pulled out all the stops. David Corenswet, who steps into the cape as Clark Kent, was joined by Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), and an ensemble cast that includes Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), among others.

Director James Gunn was also front and centre, celebrating the launch of a film that lays the foundation stone for the new DC Universe. Also spotted on the occasion was Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

Superman reportedly features two post-credits scenes, according to Screentime.

While the outlet didn’t disclose exact details, an earlier report from Comicbookmovie.com, citing the popular gossip page @MyTimeToShineH, offers a sneak peek. The first scene reportedly shows Superman and his loyal dog Krypto sitting on the moon, gazing at Earth. In the second scene, Superman and Mister Terrific are allegedly seen examining a massive crack in a building caused by the film’s explosive finale. When Superman casually remarks that the damage looks “crooked,” Terrific gets visibly annoyed, kicks a rock, and walks off, leaving viewers with a laugh rather than a cliffhanger.

No matter how a superhero film is received, post-credit scenes always spark fresh hope for what’s next. With Superman’s end-credit scenes now seemingly revealed, fans have already begun theories, speculating about what it all means for the future of the DC Universe.

One fan wrote, “Supergirl is definitely getting teased in the end credits." Another speculated that this might be the beginning of a new Justice League.

Others focused on James Gunn’s irreverent tone, with one post reading, “They better lead somewhere because Gunn’s been throwing shade in end credit scenes like he throws shade at the rest of the comic book genre.” And one fan even theorised, “I’m gonna bet one is Kara picking up Krypto, leading to Supergirl.”

Superman officially hits theatres on Friday, July 11, and it’s safe to say expectations couldn’t be higher. With a fresh cast, a new creative vision, and just the right dose of mystery, Gunn’s take on the Man of Steel is already making waves, even before its release.
