Super Eagles Stars Osimhen & Boniface Make Shock Music Debut, Endorse New Album!
Nigerian Afrobeats artist Fola has released his highly anticipated new album, "9," which quickly climbed to the number one spot on Apple Music Nigeria. The 14-track project, featuring collaborations with BNXN and Zlatan, has received notable endorsements from Super Eagles football stars Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Odion Ighalo.
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Fola has been enjoying a remarkable ascent in the music industry, culminating in widespread mainstream acclaim in 2024 following the success of his hit single “Alone.” Although he has been active on the scene for several years, “Alone” served as a pivotal moment, propelling him into the spotlight and setting the stage for subsequent achievements.
Last year marked a significant milestone with the release of his debut studio album, “Catharsis.” This project showcased Fola's artistic range and featured a collection of standout tracks including “Disco,” “Lost,” “You,” and “Eko.” Demonstrating its widespread appeal and critical reception, “Catharsis” has since garnered over 300 million streams on Spotify, solidifying Fola’s position as one of the top artists within the Nigerian music industry.
Continuing his impressive momentum, the 27-year-old University of Lagos graduate unveiled his highly anticipated new album, “9,” early on a Friday morning. The project immediately began gaining significant traction, quickly soaring to the number one spot on the Apple Music Nigeria Top Albums Chart, a clear indicator of its instant popularity and the artist's strong fanbase.
The album “9” is a comprehensive body of work, comprising 14 tracks, and features collaborations with a roster of prominent music artists. Esteemed talents such as BNXN, Darkoo, Bella Shmurda, and Zlatan lend their artistry to the project, enriching its sound and further elevating its appeal to a broad audience.
Beyond the music circles, “9” has garnered attention from the football ecosystem, thanks to the endorsement of top Nigerian stars. Super Eagles players Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface, alongside veteran striker Odion Ighalo, have actively promoted the album. The trio shared videos on social media, urging their vast fan bases to listen to the new project, highlighting Fola's widespread admiration and the album's cross-cultural appeal.
These football stars, particularly Osimhen, Boniface, and Ighalo, are well-known social figures frequently seen interacting with Nigerian artists and social media personalities. While Osimhen and Boniface are currently in active seasons, aiming for silverware with their respective clubs—with Osimhen having secured back-to-back league titles—Ighalo remains unattached to a club since leaving Al-Wehda last year and appears to have stepped away from international football, though he has not officially confirmed his retirement.
