Suns Mike Budenholzer gives update on Bradley Beal injury

Published 5 days ago2 minute read

The Phoenix Suns are currently on their longest win streak since November and are clicking at the perfect time. Phoenix sits tied for the 10th seed in the Western Conference and is only half a game behind the Sacramento Kings for the 9th seed. Passing the Kings would be huge for the Suns as it would give them home court for the first Play-In game. The team has been able to go through this stretch without three-time All-Star Bradley Beal, who suffered a left hamstring strain against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Head coach Mike Budenholzer talked to the media following practice on Tuesday and gave an update on Beal’s possible return to the lineup.

“He’s doing court work. No, he will not play tomorrow,” Budenholzer said “He’s ramping up his court work. We feel like he’s making good progress. The next few days are big, and we’ll just see how he progresses each day.”

Beal will miss tomorrow’s game against the Boston Celtics, but Budenholzer sounds confident about the Suns guard returning before the end of the regular season. Phoenix is 13-3 without Beal this season, with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker playing. Now, that record is inflated with only five of those 13 wins against teams with records above .500. Regardless, the Suns are playing their best basketball of the season.

The team doesn’t need to rush Beal back with the roster playing with confidence through its stars Booker and Durant dropping 40+ and its young guys bringing much-needed grit to the roster. The defending NBA champions are just one of the many tough opponents the Suns play in their final 10 games, but if it could continue its momentum without Beal, then it could pull off another upset.
