Published 5 hours ago1 minute read

Drugs laced with a dangerous substance caused the deaths of three people in Coram on Friday and posed a danger to others, Suffolk County police said.

The Suffolk County Police Department issued a warning Friday evening that “a bad batch of narcotics” in Coram includes a “potentially deadly substance,” according to a news release.

The drugs killed three people and “seriously injured” a fourth in Coram, the department said.

The Suffolk police Medical Crisis Action Team, or MedCAT, which is training in “advanced life support,” and other extra resources have been deployed in the impacted community, the release said.

Detectives with the Homicide Section and the Narcotics Section are investigating both the source of the narcotics and the deaths they have caused, Suffolk police said.
