The inter-institutional negotiations on this report, between the European Parliament and the Council, are scheduled to begin with the trilogue taking place on 8 July 2025. Mr Dirk Gotink (EPP) serves as the Rapporteur. By way of background, the IMCO Committee adopted a report on the proposed regulation establishing the Union Customs Code and the European Union Customs Authority. The report was subsequently approved in plenary on 13 March 2024.

On 3 December 2024, the IMCO committee voted to initiate trilogue negotiations with the Council and the report now constitutes the Parliament's position at first reading.
