Strictly Star's Royal Joy: Tess Daly Hailed by Vernon Kay for MBE 'Privilege Beyond Words'

Renowned television presenter Tess Daly expressed profound gratitude after being awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her extensive services to broadcasting. The investiture ceremony took place this afternoon, November 12, at the historic Windsor Castle, where His Majesty The King personally presented the medal. The honour marks a significant milestone in Daly's illustrious 25-year career in the broadcasting industry, a recognition she described as the "greatest honour" she has ever received.

Following the ceremony, a visibly emotional Tess Daly took to social media to dedicate the prestigious award to her late father, sharing that the experience was surreal and deeply meaningful. Reflecting on her career trajectory, she remarked, "When I got my first TV presenting job 25 years ago on the Big Breakfast, I never dreamed that I would be standing here today." She recounted feeling like she was "shaking like a leaf" during the ceremony and expressed immense pride in her northern working-class background, which made the honour all the more special, albeit tinged with the regret that her beloved dad could not share in one of the most significant days of her life. Daly also acknowledged the talent, dedication, and support of her colleagues throughout her career, deeming the award a reflection of their collective efforts.

Daly, best known for her long-standing role as co-host of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing since 2014, where she initially hosted alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth, recently announced her departure from the popular show. This decision, made in conjunction with fellow MBE recipient Claudia Winkleman, will see them stepping down after the 2025 Christmas special. Their exit marks the end of an era for the beloved dance competition.

Speaking about her upcoming departure from Strictly, Daly admitted there is "no show like it" and that she will undoubtedly miss it. However, she also expressed anticipation for a "lie-in on Saturday morning" and new ventures in the coming year. When pressed about her potential replacement, Daly humbly stated, "I have no idea, it's not up to me. I'll be watching at home with Claudia - we'll be watching the launcher together!"

At the investiture, Tess Daly radiated elegance in a stunning red gown complemented by a matching headpiece. She was proudly accompanied by her husband, Vernon Kay, and their daughter, Phoebe. Vernon Kay also shared a heartfelt tribute on his own Instagram page, congratulating his wife and praising her unwavering drive, dedication, focus, and professionalism. He highlighted her 21-year tenure at the helm of Strictly Come Dancing as a record for any female in entertainment television, concluding with a celebratory call to "pop those corks!"

The esteemed presenter received a flood of congratulatory messages from friends and colleagues, with Amanda Holden writing, "Congratulations, darling, and you look absolutely stunning," and former It Takes Two presenter Zoe Ball adding, "Congratulations Tess. How utterly fabulous and you all look gorgeous."
