Tatiana Maslany portrays the mysterious Anisha Mir, mother to Sandro Rosta's character, Caleb Mir. Caleb's driving motivation at the beginning of the series is to find his mother, from whom he was separated by the Federation, orchestrated by Hunter's Captain Ake. Rosta hinted that Caleb's loyalties would face significant tests if he were to reunite with his mother, stating that Caleb's journey at Starfleet Academy is profoundly transformative.

After 15 years on his own, Caleb is finally establishing roots at the Academy and developing a mother-son bond with Captain Ake.
