Star Power On Screen: A$AP Rocky & Margaret Qualley Light Up Chanel Short Film by Michel Gondry

Chanel has recently unveiled a captivating new short film, starring musical artist A$AP Rocky and acclaimed actress Margaret Qualley, portraying a couple embarking on a poignant new chapter. Released on a Sunday, November 30th, the surreal three-minute clip was directed by the celebrated French filmmaker Michel Gondry, widely known for his Oscar-winning work on 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'.
The narrative of the short film opens with A$AP Rocky, 37, and Margaret Qualley, 31, waking up together in bed, setting a tender and intimate tone. The scene quickly transitions as Qualley hurries off, disappearing into the bustling environment of a New York City subway. Rocky, determined to reach her, embarks on a romantic and cinematic pursuit. Dressed strikingly in red silk pajamas, he sprints through the vibrant streets of Manhattan and even daringly swims across a river, all in a bid to reunite with Qualley and propose to her. The film is characterized by its silent visuals, with the emotional depth conveyed solely through its imagery and a mesmerizing musical score by Le Motel.
This artistic collaboration serves as an exciting teaser for Chanel’s upcoming Métiers d’Art 2026 show, which is scheduled to debut on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 8 p.m. ET. A$AP Rocky, who was recently announced as Chanel’s newest brand ambassador, shared his thoughts on working with Gondry. He expressed profound admiration for the director, stating, "All of my music videos that I direct derived some inspiration from one of his films. I plan on directing my own feature. I look up to people like him."
The film, however, also sparked a wave of humorous reactions from fans on Instagram after a teaser was posted. Many comments playfully referenced Rihanna, A$AP Rocky’s real-life partner and mother of his three children, despite Margaret Qualley being married to music producer and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff. Qualley and Antonoff celebrated their star-studded wedding in August 2023, an event attended by numerous celebrities including Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz, and Cara Delevingne.
This short film by Chanel not only showcases the brand's creative vision but also highlights the artistic synergy between its stars and the iconic director, building anticipation for the upcoming Métiers d’Art collection.
